Abstract

The bringing up to date of the taxonomic position of Leiorhynchus Hall, 1860 restricts the stratigraphical range of the genus, and leads to the establishment of two North American range zones: the late Givetian Leiorhynchus Zone and the early to middle Givetian Eliorhynchus Zone. A new rhynchonellid genus, Mononusphaericorhynchus, with type species Leiorhynchus (/..) sartenaeri Johnson, 1974, is described from the latest Eifelian-early Givetian (ensensis Zone) of central Nevada, USA.
