Abstract

Sr isotopic analysis of anhydrite and calcite pseudomorphic after anhydrite from Middle Visean limestones suggest that the evaporites were formed synsedimentary with the deposition of carbonates in normal sea water. The 87Sr/86Sr ratios are very similar to those of Visean anhydrites and celestite from the St.-Ghislain borehole (SW Belgium).
