À travers les notions d’« image flottante » et de « parole flottante » – cette dernière empruntée à Jacques Rancière et déplacée au contact de la matière filmique –, l’article montre que le soulèvement collectif n’est pas représenté dans le film, mais produit, le temps d’une projection, comme effet sensible d’un dispositif cinématographique qui fait de l’histoire naturelle et de l’histoire humaine une seule et même image. This article examines how Soy Cuba (Kalatozov, 1964) links cinematic apparatus, materiality and politics around a central intuition: in this film, nature is not the referent that the image passively records, but the matter from which cinema produces its own conditions of visibility and audibility. Nous ancrons notre propos sur différents cadrages et tailles de plans qui structurent notre démonstration. À travers le mouvement fictif d’une caméra philosophique, cet article désire mettre à l’épreuve du cinéma expressionniste allemand le concept d’image-affection développé par Gilles Deleuze. Ce parcours, enrichi notamment par les apports de la phénoménologie merleau-pontienne, nous permet ultimement d’éclairer le terme ambigu d’expression, terme qui se révélera être au centre d’une dialectique négative, celle qui régit précisément le mouvement cinématographique lui-même. In this paper, I will investigate what I have chosen to name the cinematographic interval. Several shot sizes articulate this demonstration and create the fictif movement of a philosophical camera. This paper explores the german expressionist cinema and its connections with Deleuze’s concept of affection-image. Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology of embodiment will let me enlighten the key role of expression in this conception.
