L’article propose une lecture originale de la Doctrine de l’essence, dans la Science de la logique de Hegel, ainsi que de la section consacrée au commencement. Il souligne l’ambivalence de l’héritage hégélien du Discours de la méthode cartésien, à l’époque du système. À cette fin, l’article explicite à la fois la part de « fabulation » propre à l’entreprise logique et sa volonté de ramener le flottement et l’indétermination propre à la réflexion moderne sur l’essence à un moment précis et bien circonscrit de ce cheminement, à savoir celui de l’apparence. This article aims at questioning the way in which the modern philosophers appealed to a kind of "fictionalization" right from their characterization of the method, and in such a way that the former makes a philosophy of freedom possible. The paper provides an original reading of Hegel’s Doctrine of essence as well as of the section devoted to the beginning of the whole Science of Logic. It emphasizes the ambivalence of the Hegelian inheritance of Descartes’ Discourse on the Method at the time of the system. To this end, the article shows both the "fabrication" dimension of the logic enterprise and Hegel’s will to confine any "lapse" and indeterminacy peculiar to the modern reflection on essence to a very specific moment of that progress, namely that of appearance.
