Cet état d’exception « réel » ou « véritable » (wirklich) dont la tradition des opprimés porte la mémoire, il revient à celui qui tâche d’écrire l’histoire de le faire advenir, ce qui exige d’abord un concept de l’histoire qui y corresponde. Le présent article cherche à contribuer à éclaircir quelques unes des prémisses implicites de l’heuristique de l’exception et de l’ironie mise en œuvre par Benjamin dans les thèses sur l’histoire. The philosophical program that lies at the core of the eighth thesis on history of Walter Benjamin has a quite paradoxical title: generalising the state of exception. The “real” or “true” state of exception, belonging to the tradition of the oppressed people requires from anyone striving to write history a new concept of history corresponding to that tradition. The present paper tries to clarify some of the implicit presuppositions of exception and irony as a methodological point of view by Benjamin in this writing.
