This paper presented at the British Theoretical Computer Science Colloquium at the University of Warwick in March 24-26, 1986. proposed a definition of common sense as essential element in the solution of the problem of machine intelligence. lt concluded, that common sense is both the deep syntax of natural processes and governs the basic semantics of logical or mathematical language.
