Abstract

A study of the intensity distribution among rotational lines of the R branch of the N2+ 1 N (0 - 1) band excited in an externally heated hollow-cathode discharge has revealed the existence of a Boltzmann equilibrium. However a significant difference bas beau observed between the rotational temperature and the temperature of the heated hollow-cathode; this difference increases with the temperature of the hollow-cathode.
