Abstract
ABSTRACT. Gold, arsénopyrite, mimétite, pharmacosidérite, and scorodite were observed in association with other sulphide minerals in the Cambrian quartzites of Hourt, Stavelot Massif, Belgium. The identification of these minerals is confirmed by electron microprobe analyses and by X-ray powder diffraction. The unit-cell parameters of arsénopyrite were also calculated : a = 5.742(3), b = 5.700(2), c = 5.778(2) Å and ß = 112.13(5)°. Scorodite is a new arsenate mineral for Belgium, whereas the occurrence of gold associated with arsénopyrite is observed for the first time.
