Abstract
Some cranial fragments from the jaw region and the opercular series of the amiiform fish taxon Caturus sp. (Actinopterygii, Halecomorphi) are described from the continental Upper Trias of Los Menucos (Rio Negro province, Patagonia, Argentina). This find represents the first Triassic amiiform record and the first undoubted fossil caturid record from South America.
