24 tests have been performed in order to determine digestibility of rodent-prey by the red fox. The coefficient of digestibility (relation between weight of consumed food and weight of undigested remnants) was of 4l for rodents in this trial, almost twice the figure given by other authors. Scats have been expelled at all times of day but principally between 6 P.M. and 6 A.M. More than one faeces was produced following a single meal. Consequently scats cannot be considered as an index of predatory activity but simply as index of occurrence. Finally, the study has confirmed that mice of the genus Apodemus are less preferred than voles of the genus Microtus. Correction factors for pigeon and cherry were also calculated and all these data compared with the literature.
