Abstract

We look for properties verifying the following theorem : A set A has property P if and only if it contains one and only one maximal subset having. property P.  Furthermore, we solve another problem, namely the characterization of star-shaped sets in terms of their maximal convex subsets.  Finally, we give some new properties of irradiated sets in connection with their maximal convex subsets.
