Scope of the journal :

Founded in 1935, the Bulletin of the Liège Society for Musicology was established with the purpose of promoting and preserving the musical heritage of the ancient Principate of Liège and more broadly in the Belgium of today. Through biographical articles, institutional studies and transcriptions of scores, the Bulletin has become over the years the principal source for musical studies in this area. In 1995, the Bulletin of the Liège Society for Musicology changed its name, becoming the Journal of the Liège Society for Musicology when responsibility for publication was taken over by the University of Liège. Philippe Vendrix and then Christophe Pirenne took charge of editorial responsibilities, assisted by musicologists from other universities in the country. The purpose of promoting and preserving the musical heritage of the region has not changed; to this has been added to intention of publishing the most innovative these and dissertations.
