Abstract

This paper presents Poland's place in new european space, including its West-European orientation. Among others we take into consideration the location of the country on the main West-East communication axis, as well as its opportunity to become a true hub of European communications in the central European space. The present transformations of economic structures of the country are underlined. Special attention is drawn to changes occurring in countries neighbouring Poland. The emergence and formation of an eastern European zone of countries is noted. We try to take a position towards the present politics of Russia in its attempts at restoring its empire and stopping processes of European integration.
