Ethics

ESAFORM Proceedings 2021 refers to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) "Code of conduct for journal publishers" and "The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity" (ALLEA).

Reviewing process

The board of directors of ESAFORM supervises the Conference Chairman or Chairwoman (in 2021, Anne Marie Habraken) who defines the list of Mini Symposia and their organizers. For each Mini Symposium, the organizers verify the received abstracts. If the future article focus is indeed adapted to the Mini-Symposium, the authors are invited to submit their article. If according the abstract, the future article is related to the conference but not in the correct Mini-Symposium, AM Habraken has discussed with the organizers of other Mini Symposia and identified the correct Mini-Symposium to host the article. If the abstract is out of the scope of the conference, it is rejected.

The authors submit their articles respecting the conference deadline and the Mini-Symposium co-organizers handle the review under the supervision of the conference Chairman or Chairwoman. Again clear deadlines are defined. AM Habraken defined a template with the article length and format as well as the fact that each article should be analyzed by 2 reviewers who do not belong to the teams of authors. If the quality of the first version is too poor, the article is rejected otherwise the authors receive comments and improve their article accordingly or if quality is perfect, the article is accepted without correction. The organizers of the Mini Symposia check the revised versions of the articles before giving the publication agreement.

If any difficulty arises either for reviewers or authors, the conference chairman or chairwoman is the one who treats the problem in agreement with her co -editors Anne Mertens and Laurent Duchêne. In the event of a serious problem with a reviewer or an author, the ESAFORM board will be warned and may place the scientist name on a blacklist.

The reviewers undertake not to circulate the articles under review, not to use the results before publication.
